History

CHILD Inc was founded in 2000. Originally it was set up to assist clients in navigating the legal system. It can be quite overwhelming to those who have never dealt with the court system before. We provided resources and referrals to services.
Over time we increased our services to include support groups for children, community education, client mentoring, and court liaison.

We have grown to over 75 volunteers. Our staff has attended trainings by the Department of Justice, FBI, Sexual Violence Center, and Survivor’s Network.

We have provided community education for foster care, scouts, public and charter schools, churches, event booths, and work places. Our life size paper doll display has grown to over a mile long. Our web site and phone line have provided information and assistance to people for 12 years. We have coordinated with other organizations to provide services and resources to those in need (Stop It Now, Sexual Violence Center, BACA, NAPSAC, etc). We have provided social gatherings for our clients and their families. We have had picnics, flag football games, Timberwolves games and many other fun activities with our clients, providing safe and appropriate role modeling.

We have done a variety of fundraising activities; car washes, rummage sales, candy sales, haunted house, annual benefits and silent auctions. We have partnered with Target, WalMart, Kohls, Herbergers, Burger King, and Buffalo Wild Wings in community fundraising projects.

We participated in the Walk for Justice between 2003 and 2006. We have been in several parades including Lumberjack Days, Woodbury Days, Bayport, and Lake Elmo.

Our organization is supported by the public through our many fundraising activities. Each year we are able to provide even more services to more children and families thanks to the generosity of our supporters. Together we can make a difference in children’s lives.
